Robert B. Goodman, P.E.

Mr. Goodman, Co-founder and Partner of GGSE, brings over 40 years of experience providing structural engineering services to architects, contractors, developers and owners since 1974. Experience includes structural conception, analysis, design and working drawings along with structural investigations and construction administration. In over 40 years Mr. Goodman has designed over one thousand building structures that include projects ranging up to 18 stories and 600,000 square feet in size, using a wide variety of materials including mild and high strength steel, reinforced, prestressed and post-tensioned concrete, wood, masonry, aluminum and fiberglass.

Mr. Goodman earned a Bachelor of Industrial Engineering degree in 1967 from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering Technology (Highest Honors) degree in 1974 from the Southern Technical Institute.

2013 to present: Co-Founder, Partner and Consulting Structural Engineer. Project experience including medical office buildings, office buildings, commercial/retail buildings, museum/cultural centers, libraries, restaurants, institutional buildings, governmental buildings, industrial facilities, mixed use facilities, educational buildings, recreational facilities, multi-unit housing, high end residential projects, warehouse facilities and a variety of specialty structures.

Bob Goodman, PE

2010-2013: Consulting structural engineer. Past projects include: Office buildings, banks, shopping centers, retail centers, churches, cultural centers, museums, visitor centers, multi-family housing, dormitories, fraternity and sorority buildings, restaurants, cafeterias, dining halls, elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, gymnasiums, classroom buildings, administration buildings, courthouses, prison cell buildings, jail or detention facilities, post offices, package sorting facilities, warehouses, distribution centers, freezer storage and cold temperature processing facilities, airport terminals, bus terminals, libraries, hospitals, medical clinics, aircraft hangers, agricultural buildings, maintenance facilities, manufacturing facilities, heavy and light industrial buildings and fabrication facilities, chemical and bulk processing plants, and renovations and additions of many types.

Jenkins & Charland / TRC Worldwide Engineering

2005-2010: Vice President & Managing Principal of the Atlanta office providing structural conception, analysis, design and working drawings for architects and builders world wide. Work involved use of flat plate post tensioned concrete floors, composite steel frames, and early steel detailing delivery.

Goodman Engineering

1979-2005: Principal Engineer. Designs included the use of structural steel, both hot and cold rolled; reinforced, precast, prestressed and post tensioned concrete, composite high strength steel and concrete, masonry, heavy and light timber, glue laminated wood, aluminum, fiberglass, long span roofs and floors, braced and unbraced frames, shear wall interaction, shallow or floating foundations and deep foundations. He has designed over one thousand (1,000) buildings, ranging in size up to eighteen stories and 600,000 square feet.

Stevens & Wilkinson Architects & Engineers

1976-1979: Project Engineer responsible for the analysis, design and production of working drawings for several large institutional and retail structures, large portions of the Atlanta Airport Mid-Field Terminal, and the Atlanta Central Library.

John Portman & Associates

1974-1976: Design engineer on large, complex multi-use structures such as the Los Angeles Bonaventure Hotel and the Renaissance Center in Detroit, Michigan. Work included analysis and design of major portions of braced and unbraced frames composed of reinforced and prestressed concrete, mild and high strength steels. Experience included extensive exposure to seismic design codes and criteria.
